Thankful Thursday (a little late....)
Today, I am thankful....
1) That in the midst of having a house full of sick kiddos this week, I have still been blessed with time with girlfriends! Since Scott is super-dad, I was able to still get out with a couple of girls the other night.... my dear, new friend, Janna, surprised me with a bowl of Coldstone last night and some terrific conversation on the front porch.... and my terrific neighbor, Myah, joined me on the front porch for a bit today, too! Simply splendid (did y'all know that I am an "off the chart" extrovert?!)
2) Did I mention that Scott is super-dad?! Yep, my kiddos and I are blessed....
3) That part of my kitchen counter is clean at this minute. It doesn't happen often, so I should probably savor it (and get the camera!)
4) For Preen. I hate weeding.... yep, I'm thankful for Preen and am hopeful that it will do its job in our landscaping soon!
5) That we found a new dentist. I don't enjoy finding new care providers after a move, but we tried out a new dentist this week, and I think that he will be a good fit for our family!

Unfortunately....
....Ellie's face in this picture sums up the past couple of days at our house (even though it was taken earlier this month). We just completely day SIXTEEN of kids with fevers and sickness at our house this summer. The yucky viruses didn't get the message that it is SUMMER, and my kiddo clan and I are supposed to be enjoying lots of fun trips to the zoo, playdates, fun at the splash pad, and trips to the lake with cousins.
Instead, I am getting very good at canceling plans. Sigh....
Here's to a healthy WINTER! :)

Thankful Thursday...
Today, I am thankful....
1) As mentioned before, that my hubby is blogging again! He had a great post again today (and he even referred to his "beautiful wife" in this post, so he gets extra kudos from me today! HA!)
2) That Aaron is excited about his new school. We'll see if the excitement lasts as the time for this transition draws closer, but for now, I am thankful.
3) That Scott is an amazing dad.... and specifically, an amazing teacher for our children. We had an interesting and difficult issue with one of our children last night, and he dealt with it very, very well.
4) That Ollie is FINALLY out of the puppy stage! :) Sure, he's a chocolate lab so even at 6 1/2, he still has a ton of energy, but in the midst of the puppy YEARS with him, I didn't know if we'd all live through it. He really is a very, very good dog.
5) That I have the amazing opportunity to co-lead our MOPS retreat this weekend. My friend, Faith, and I are co-coordinating the MOPS group at Sonrise this year.... I'm excited about the opportunity to love and serve these women!

Drumroll please....
So, the wait is over. What was THIS? It is what we like to call "goop" at our house.
Banana & avocado baby food puree.
Yummo, eh?! When Isaac was 4-5 months old, he hit a plateau on the growth chart; the FABULOUS lactation consultant at Goshen General Hospital educated me on all of the benefits of avocados for babies, including the fact that they are so, so high in "good fats." She always called them the "perfect first food for baby"!
Well, I have found that my babies don't like avocados on their own so much. So....
4 bananas + 1 ripe avocado = GOOP!
There you have it. Thanks for your guesses.... and Sheri, sorry that the picture made you a little gaggy! Glad to know though, that even THE National YOUNG Mother of the Year has a weakness or two!!! :)

Thankful Thursday....
Today, I am thankful....
1) That Scott will be home from camp later tonight. It's been a crazy couple of weeks. 11 days of kids with fevers (plus 1 1/2 weeks of canceled plans) backed right up to Scott leaving for camp on Sunday. I'm thankful to be at the end of it now.
2) That kids are so forgiving. Seriously, it truly amazes me. True confessions.... I have endured with the Lord's help, but I haven't had the most stellar mommy moments over the past couple of weeks. Today, as I was driving, I lost it and yelled at Aaron about something. It was a "breaking point" for me, and two minutes later, I was pulled over in a parking lot, sobbing. Aaron and Isaac both asked why I was crying (in the midst of Isaac saying, "But mom, I'm HUNGRY!"), and I said, "I just wish that I wasn't a bad mommy sometimes." No less than eight hours later, tonight.... Aaron walked up to me, crying, and said, "I don't want to you to ever say that you are a bad mommy again. You are the best mommy, and it made me so sad when you said that." Sigh.... amazing that he didn't even consider mentioning the words that had flowed so freely from MY mouth prior to my tears and that comment.... yep, I think that kiddos are the masters at forgiving. We have a lot to learn from them.
3) On a LIGHTER note.... For a fabulous pool! We are having so much fun with a pool in our backyard. We have had some friends and neighbors over to enjoy it with us a couple times (ahem... outside of while our kids had FEVERS!) and it has been a blast!
4) That we have a freezer full of beef! So cool.... we have always thought about purchasing a quarter of beef, and the perfect time finally came up! Someone donated the steer + processing for our youth camp scholarship auction at church. We were able to get a freezer full of beef AND support our kids' travels to camp at the same time! Awesome!
5) For Air Conditioning!!!!!!! Wow, it's HOT out there....

Our little hitter....
.... okay, not so little! Aaron loves baseball.... EVERYTHING about baseball. He is having a fun season and is in an awesome, instructional league where he is learning a lot!

This is my personal favorite. On one random day at our old apartment, Isaac went in, grabbed his children's Bible, and brought it outside to "read." Yep, I love it.... I love him!

Thankful Thursday...
Today, I am thankful....
1) That our little buddy, Austin, is CANCER-FREE!!!!!!!!! He just had scans at Riley and got the great news today. Love you, McCleary Fam! We're celebrating with you!
2) That my kiddos seem to have healthy immune systems and that yucky viruses do eventually go away. Ellie is finally better. Isaac, we hope, will be SOON! It's been a week of fevers and CRUD here (hand/foot/mouth virus for Isaac, specifically).... I am NOT thankful for that.... but I am still HOPEFUL that these little bodies will heal!
3) That we are LOVING our new home, our new neighbors, and are so, so thankful. Everybody always asks us if we are unpacked. No, absolutely not. We are too busy enjoying the pool to unpack! We have all winter to unpack, right?! :)
4) That my hubby is such an AMAZING daddy! He has taken the night-shift with Isaac over the past couple of nights.... I, LITERALLY, couldn't do it without him!
